Important Information

Terms of Service

These points are included in our Terms of Service (PDF available for download here). We've highlighted the main items here.

Service Area

Our offsite services are available in the Northern Rivers area of NSW. A travel fee applies to bookings outside our local area of Kyogle. The travel fee is determined by the distance/time from Horseshoe Park (Upper Horseshoe Creek, NSW) and amount of ponies booked, as the weight of the ponies has an effect on travel time and fuel consumed. To keep our services affordable and accessible, we aim to keep this cost as minimal as possible. Contact us for a quote now.

Trading Hours

We operate seven days a week, accepting bookings from 9am to 5pm, depending on availability. We recommend that bookings be made at least 2 weeks in advance of your planned date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your ponies well behaved?

Yes. Our ponies have been specifically selected due to their gentle and patient nature. They are child-friendly and comfortable in crowds. Each pony undergoes training to ensure that they are prepared for the variety of events they attend. During service they are closely monitored for any signs of fatigue and are rested accordingly.

Is it safe to ride the ponies?

Safety is of the utmost importance and we employ several procedures to make our rides as safe as possible. All our ponies participate in ongoing training specific to the services they are involved in. Each service is carefully supervised by a trained and experienced handler who closely monitors potential risks. All participants are educated in how to behave safely around horses before they engage in any pony related activities. Each participant is assisted to mount and dismount safely and riders must wear the provided Australian Standard safety helmets when mounted. Riders are always accompanied by a trained and experienced handler, who leads the pony using a lead line. Riding students are fully assessed before being allowed to ride unassisted without the use of a lead line.

While our experience and training enables us to provide rides under the safest possible conditions, we understand that accidents do sometimes occur and as such, we require supervising staff to maintain a current First Aid certificate.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. Horseshoe Park Pony Rides is fully insured and carries public liability insurance.

Can older children ride the ponies?

We accomodate children of all ages. We have a variety of different pony breeds and sizes suitable for both younger and older children to safely ride on.
Miniature Pony - For the littlest youngsters, suitable for children aged 1 to 5yrs.
Miniature Horse - Suitable for children up to around 7yrs of age.
Welsh Mountain Ponies - Suitable for children aged up to around 12yrs of age.
Lipizzaner Pony - Suitable for the older children and adults.

Do you do parties for boys and girls?

We cater for boys and girls and have themes/activities suitable for both genders.

What do you do at the party?

Every party is unique because we provide a customised service, tailored to your specific request. Some of our party packages include games and activities in addition to pony rides. Games can be run simultaneously or consecutively depending on your needs.

How much room do the ponies need?

We don't need much room for pony parties. The ponies can be ridden in a backyard, front yard or driveway.

Where should I have my party?

Horseshoe Park Pony Rides can adapt to your party location so the choice is yours. Have your party in your backyard at home, at the park, or come have your party at Horseshoe Park.

Do I need a permit to have my pony party in a local park?

In general, no you do not need to get a permit. However, national parks and some local councils prohibit horse riding in certain areas. Please contact the relevant authority for advice.

Who cleans up the pony mess?

We always clean up after the ponies during the party and at the end.

What happens if it rains?

We'll still come! Umbrellas can be used when riding if it rains and guests are advised to dress for wet weather. However, if severe/dangerous weather were to occur, the rides may need to be rescheduled for another day available.

Do I need to provide anything?

No. We provide a hassle free service where everything is supplied, including saddles, bridles, helmets, clog-style safety stirrips, mounting blocks, and grooming brushes. We can also provide party supplies for games, such as pin the tail on the pony, pass the parcel, costumes for dress-ups, piñatas, and a treasure hunt.

Are the ponies well cared for?

Our ponies are members of our family and are treated as such. We take great care to ensure our ponies aren't over-worked; they are rested regularly and work according to a roster. They reside on the Horseshoe Park property, which boasts 100 acres of land. They have adequate shelter and recieve a healthy nutritious diet, with fresh water available at all times. Katy, the owner/operator of Horshoe Park personally undertakes the necessary duties, like grooming, hoof trimming, and daily health checks. The health of our ponies is very important and they regularly visit the vets for all necessary immunisations, vaccines, de-worming, teeth checks and floating.
